The Monmouth County Prosecutor's office released affidavits Thursday that show suspect Liam McAtasney admitted to plotting Stern's murder so he could take the money. According to the documents, McAtasney took Stern to the bank to withdraw her safe deposit box. The two then went back to her home where McAtasney allegedly strangled her. The affidavit says McAtasney then called his roommate, and now co-defendant, Preston Taylor to help move the body. Stern's body has still not been recovered. Stern and the two suspects had been longtime friends who all went to the same school.

She was last seen leaving her home to go to a high school dance competition. Her car was found in the school parking lot and her body was discovered in a wooded area on campus later that day. The suspect in the case is year-old Patrick Leon Nicholas, according to police.
